I’m Emmy, also known as Em but I often answer to Amy, Emily and many other names starting with an E – Since people don’t really know how to pronounce my name in english before they ask about the spelling.
– A now 22 years old girl from south of Sweden. I grew up on the countryside on a little farm with horses, cats and dogs. This made me a horse girl for the first 15 years of my life, and over all I’m an animal lover.
Ystad is the nearest town, the famous town of Wallander. It’s a lovely place in the summer, but the rest of the year is dark, grey and windy – Nothing I’m a big fan of.
Music is a big love in my life, I’ve been singing my whole life and I’ve played a few different instruments as well. During high school I even studied music and had a band. Nowadays I just listen to music, sing along a lot and only go all in when I’m alone in the shower or drunk (and I wish none of you to experience this).
Another love is food. Cooking and baking, and also trying new different food from other countries. It have been a dream for a long time to make a cookbook and share my recipes and ideas. That’s why you can find a lot of recipes and ‘foodies’ around my blog. Other things that’s close to my heart is kids, my family and friends, coffee, writing, photographing, and of course traveling!
So that’s a little about me, Swedish you think…Yes, I’m blonde and I do have blue eyes. What else do you think about Swedes? I’ve heard so much crazy stuff about what people think of Sweden!
Here’s some photos from my travels.
Why the travel blog?
I currently love my life and what I do. I left my comfy life in Sweden in december 2013 without any time limits. I always knew that I was going traveling long term, it have been my biggest dream for as long as I can remember. Most of us know that it’s not that easy to break away and just go. With a job, friends and family it’s so easy to get stuck and leave the dreams behind.
One day I just decided to go, I couldn’t wait for any longer and three days after that I was on a train, that took me to a plane, that took me to another plane… That day I made the best decision in my life. Pretty impulsive I know, let’s say the impulsive parts about traveling is awesome. And even if you’ve planned everything there’s always thousands of surprises.

From the start the blog was mostly for myself to remember everything that I experienced while traveling. But also for my loved ones back home, to show them what I do, where I am and that I’m alive!
After a few months traveling I felt that I just had to tell other people about how amazing the world is and help others to jump of that cliff and follow their dreams.
If I can help and inspire you, yes YOU! Then, I’m happy.
Getting to know me a little bit more…
I love traveling and exploring new places, if I’m not already on the road I’m dreaming about it or planning my next trip. | Mostly I know what I want for myself and I’m not afraid of being alone. | When everyone else goes to sleep you’ll find me in bed with my computer, a real geek. | I don’t like feeling trapped in small spaces. | I could live the rest of my life eating only ice-cream, but for my own best sushi is a better but just as delicious choice. | Yoga wakes me up in the mornings. | I love making bets but I hate losing. | I can’t stand injustice and turns into a little grumpy girl again if something isn’t fare. | Mostly I think differently than other people. | I care about others more then I care about myself and would put my friend first every day of the year. | My sister always told me I was supposed to be a boy. | I love everything that’s fast. | Driving a car when I’m sad makes me happy again. | I’ve spend a lot of time on a sailing boat. |
Before I went traveling I was thinking a lot about what to do with my life instead of really doing something about it. Now I just do the things that makes me happy!
Above is a couple of photos of me and my life before I left my home. Sometimes I miss it like crazy!
Where have Emmy been?
As a 9-year old little girl my family went on a vacation to Italy. I went to France to live and work volontarly with my church at a monastery. The summer of 2008 I went to Spain and lived with a family there for a month. Other than that I have visited Denmark, Germany, Austria, England, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia so far. And there’s more to come!
I hope you enjoy reading my blog, whatever you’re looking for!
