Koh Lanta was one of the stops in my early days of traveling. This is a beautiful island in south Thailand with long beautiful beaches and astonishing nature. It’s really a place were you can relax and get away for a while, perfect for lazy days on the beach in the sun. What else could you ask for?
There’s ferries from both Krabi, Ao Nang and Phi Phi. We came here from Phi Phi and that boat trip is just a couple of hours. Our plan was to find accommodation after arriving but luckily we met a nice old lady on our way to the ferry. She helped us with hotel at the best spot (according to her at least). This is really a tropical paradise.
We had our first taste of sickness here so we were mostly chilling all day long. And when I think about it that’s exactly what you’re supposed to do here. Just relax and enjoy this wonderful island.
We ended up on Kantiang Beach which is pretty far from the ferry and the best way is to book your hotel in advance. This place is amazing and you get away from all of the tourists actually. Of corse there’s a few but we shared the beach with maximum five others every day…and that’s pretty unusual in Thailand. The hotel was good with food to die for… This is the place where I had the best veggies with cashewnuts in Thailand! There’s an awesome bar just on the beach and this is the place where you’ll spend your night for sure. With food, drinks, fireshow, live music and staff that treats you like family, it’s hard not loving this place!
If you’re up for some adventure you can always rent a motorbike and explore the island by yourself. The beautiful national park is a must, as well as Lanta Old Town. Or why not have a drive and try all the beaches…there’s a few and all of them is amazing in it’s own way! Snorkelling and diving is also something that you should try here if you’re amazed by the things underwater like me! Near Kantiang Bay they have a lighthouse that you should visit in the sunset just for the beautiful view, something extraordinary.
Overall Koh Lanta is really a must if you’re nearby. That’s another cool thing about Thailand, that every island has it’s own character and personality. And that’s why Thailand is amazing!
